1. Who can apply?

Everyone! Some companies immediately disregard applications from certain people. However Studio19 welcome applications from everyone, including university students, part-time workers, community organisations and senior citizens (10% discount for Seniors Card holders). However you do need to be over eighteen years of age to place an application. If you are under eighteen, please ask a parent or guardian to apply on your behalf.

2. How can I apply?

You can apply online via our secure portal or if you prefer, you can fill in an application form at any of our authorised music stores and they will fax it to us.

3. How long does it take for approval?

Approvals for New Instrument Rental are faster than Purchase Plan, but may take one business day for a brief credit, employment, landlord and referee check.

4. Do we have to rent for a certain length of time?

Yes. New Instrument Rental has a six (6) month minimum period. If you return the instrument before this time you will need to pay the balance of rental changes for the full six months.

5. What brands can we rent?

We stock a wide range of quality instruments. Brands include: Studio19 brass, woodwind & classical strings. Conover Cable & Samick acoustic and digital pianos. Yamaha brass & woodwind available through some dealers. Please refer to the Model Descriptions section for the instruments available in the NIR program.

6. Will I receive a brand new instrument?

Yes. All the instruments in New Instrument Rental are brand new.

7. What is the Studio19 Satisfaction Guarantee?

We totally guarantee your satisfaction. If you are not happy with your instrument, notify us within 14 days and we will replace your instrument immediately, or provide a full refund.

8. Do you require a bond?

No. However Studio19 may request a bond in certain circumstances.

9. Can I rent more than one instrument?

Certainly. You can put as many instruments as you like on one application form.

10. What does the 'First Payment' amount on the price list include?

The first payment includes the first month's rental, delivery, handling and contract set-up.

11. What is covered (and not covered) by insurance?

Insurance covers fire, theft from forcible entry, damage in a car collision and malicious damage. However it does not cover accidental loss or damage. Therefore if you lose the instrument, drop it, or accidentally leave it sitting in the sun etc it will not be covered and you will need to cover the cost of repair or replacement. So please take care.

12. How are the payments debited?

The rental payments are debited on a set date each month from either your nominated bank account or a credit card. We accept Mastercard, Bankcard or Visa. If the date falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payments will be debited on the next business day.

13. Can I change the payment date?

It is possible to change the date to fit in with your salary and other commitments. Please call the Contract Administration department on 1300 855 122 to discuss. Please note that rental payments are made in advance, so if you would like the date moved more than a week forward, you may be required to cover that rental period difference before the date can be changed.

14. Will the rental instrument come ready to play?

All instruments are ready to pick up and play immediately. You will receive the standard accessories that come with the instrument from the manufacturer. Any additional accessories will need to be purchased from your local music store during the course of your rental contract.

15. My violin bow has broken. What should I do?

If there are any problems with your instrument on arrival, Studio19 will organise repair or replacement. However any consumable broken or used during the course of your contract is not covered eg rosin, cork grease, bows, strings etc. You will need to purchase replacements from your local music store.

16. Do all my rental payments go towards paying off the instrument?

Signing a New Instrument Rental agreement is not a definite agreement to purchase because you have the flexibility to return your instrument any time after the minimum period. However if you would like to purchase your rental instrument, we do offer 75% of rental payments made in the first 12 months off the purchase price. You can choose to purchase your instrument in one payment, or select the 1 or 2 years Interest Free Purchase Plan option and pay the balance off monthly. Please contact us when you are ready to purchase.

17. How do I return the instrument?

Simply take the instrument back into the store from whom you rented originally. They will fill in an 'Equipment Return Form' with your details and fax it to us. Once we receive the fax we will know to stop debiting rental payments and close your contract.

It is worth checking the date that your payments are normally debited and ensure that you return your instrument 2-3 days or more before that date. Our computer systems automatically debit payments, so we need to receive the 'Equipment Return Fax' early to be able to halt payments.

18. We have moved house. How do we return the instrument?

You can return your instrument to any music store in the Studio19 network. Visit the Dealer Locator on this website for your closest store. If you do not live near a store, please call us on 1300 889 560 and we will make other arrangements.

If you can't find what you're looking for or need assistance, then call our FREE HELPLINE on 1300 889 560 - (Mon-Fri 9.00-5.30 Eastern Time).
